(Printable Version)

To celebrate Saint John’s 225th anniversary, the Tanners Home Inn will continue their heritage cultural series with a new program. The Fireside Chit Chats will run monthly between February and May. The Chit Chats are basically a heritage walking tour done inside, in front of the fireplace where it will definitely be warmer than walking on a Saint John street during the winter months.

The Chit Chats are held on a Wednesday evening and will go from 7 to 8 pm.  The cost of $10 per person includes drinks and snacks, and a portion of the funds raised are donated to the SPCA. Seating is limited. Beginning in June the Walk-A-block program will resume. The one hour walking tours of the uptown will be held on Saturday mornings at 11am and will be repeated on Wednesday evenings at 7pm. The cost of $10 per person includes drinks and snacks, and a portion of the funds raised are donated to the SPCA.

Every person who participates in a Fireside Chit Chat or does a Walk-A-Block will receive a ballot to be drawn in November. The prize will be a collection of ten books about Saint John. Some of the books will be new and others will be rare collectible books by local authors.

Pre-registration is required for all programs. Call 634-8917.

The $10 cost of the Walk or Fireside Chat includes drink and snack refreshments. A portion of the funds raised will be donated to the Saint John SPCA for their ongoing projects.

All walks take place in the immediate uptown area. The range of topics for discussion for the walks and Fireside Chats are wide-ranging and will cover many areas of Saint John’s heritage.

The Walks and Fireside Chats will be conducted with local historians and other guest narrators will participate in some of the walks.
